In a bid to curb pollution, the Commission for Air Quality (CAQM) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Adjoining Areas has issued show cause notices to six thermal power plants within 3 hundred kilometer radius of Delhi. These have been issued for non-compliance with biomass co-firing norms, notified under the Environment (Utilisation of Crop Residue by Thermal Power Plants) Rules, 2023. 2. In West Bengal, members of Sanatani Oikyo Mancha protested in front of the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata to protest against the brutal torture and killing of Dipu Das in Bangladesh. Protest was witnessed near the iconic Howrah Bridge in Kolkata also. Members of the Mancha also organised rallies in the border districts of West Bengal. 3. A Delhi court extended the judicial custody of seven accused in the Red Fort blast case by 15 days, remanding them to jail till January 8. 4. In Maharashtra, after weeks of negotiations, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) announced a formal alliance for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections and other municipal polls, including in Nashik. The vessel will be flagged off from Porbandar, Gujarat, for Muscat, Oman, symbolically retracing the historic maritime routes that connected India with the wider Indian Ocean world for millennia. 2. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has inducted the first Pollution Control Vessel, Samudra Pratap, at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). Samudra Pratap is the first indigenously designed and built Pollution Control Vessel of the Indian Coast Guard. The vessel was formally delivered to the Coast Guard today during an induction ceremony. 3. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has launched a new BRO manual on preparing Detailed Project Reports for road infrastructure projects to ensure faster execution, technical accuracy, and improved strategic connectivity in border areas. 4. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a landmark success with the completion of user evaluation trials for the Next Generation Akash (Akash-NG) surface-to-air missile system. 5. The Jammu and Students Association (JKSA) on Monday wrote to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking urgent intervention to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian medical students currently studying in Bangladesh amid ongoing protests, tensions, and incidents of violence, particularly in Dhaka and surrounding regions. 3. Bangladesh has suspended visa and consular services at key missions in India, including the Assistant High Commission in Agartala, amid escalating diplomatic tensions with New Delhi.This move follows a series of security incidents and protests linked to the brutal lynching of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. 4. 1.  In a bid to curb pollution, the Commission for Air Quality (CAQM) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Adjoining Areas has issued show cause notices to six thermal power plants within 3 hundred kilometer radius of Delhi. These have been issued for non-compliance with biomass co-firing norms, notified under the Environment (Utilisation of Crop Residue by Thermal Power Plants) Rules, 2023.


2.  In West Bengal, members of Sanatani Oikyo Mancha protested in front of the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata to protest against the brutal torture and killing of Dipu Das in Bangladesh. Protest was witnessed near the iconic Howrah Bridge in Kolkata also. Members of the Mancha also organised rallies in the border districts of West Bengal. 


3.  A Delhi court extended the judicial custody of seven accused in the Red Fort blast case by 15 days, remanding them to jail till January 8.


4.  In Maharashtra, after weeks of negotiations, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS)  announced a formal alliance for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections and other municipal polls, including in Nashik. The announcement was made by cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray during a joint press conference in Mumbai.

 ordered the framing of charges of criminal conspiracy and corruption against Congress MP Karti Chidambaram and six others in the Chinese visa scam case. 


6.  The Delhi High Court 

 suspended the jail term of expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is serving a life sentence in the 2017 Unnao rape case. The court granted relief subject to strict conditions, including movement restrictions and regular police reporting. 


7.  In Odisha, 22 Maoists, including 10 women cadres, surrendered before the police in Malkangiri district.

1.  INSV Kaundinya, the Indian Navy’s pioneering stitched sailing vessel that revives India’s ancient shipbuilding and seafaring traditions, will undertake her maiden overseas voyage on 29 Dec 2025. The vessel will be flagged off from Porbandar, Gujarat, for Muscat, Oman, symbolically retracing the historic maritime routes that connected India with the wider Indian Ocean world for millennia.


2.  The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has inducted the first Pollution Control Vessel, Samudra Pratap, at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). Samudra Pratap is the first indigenously designed and built Pollution Control Vessel of the Indian Coast Guard. The vessel was formally delivered to the Coast Guard today during an induction ceremony.


3.  Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has launched a new BRO manual on preparing Detailed Project Reports for road infrastructure projects to ensure faster execution, technical accuracy, and improved strategic connectivity in border areas.


4.  The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a landmark success with the completion of user evaluation trials for the Next Generation Akash (Akash-NG) surface-to-air missile system.


5.  India has conducted a user trial of the K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile from INS Arihant in the Bay of Bengal on 23 December 2025. This test, achieving a range of approximately 3,500 km, represents a key advancement in the sea-based component of India's nuclear triad.

1.  ISRO has successfully launched the BlueBird Block-2 satellite into a precise low-Earth orbit using the reliable LVM3-M6 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.The mission lifted off at 8:54 AM IST on 24 December 2025.


2.  The Jammu and Students Association (JKSA) on Monday wrote to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking urgent intervention to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian medical students currently studying in Bangladesh amid ongoing protests, tensions, and incidents of violence, particularly in Dhaka and surrounding regions.


3.  Bangladesh has suspended visa and consular services at key missions in India, including the Assistant High Commission in Agartala, amid escalating diplomatic tensions with New Delhi.This move follows a series of security incidents and protests linked to the brutal lynching of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. 


4.  India has proposed a comprehensive assistance package worth USD 450 million to aid Sri Lanka's reconstruction efforts in the wake of Cyclone Ditwah.This initiative was announced by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during his visit to Colombo on 23 December 2025.


5.  External Affairs Ministry stressed that disrespectful acts such as demolishing statues of deities hurt the sentiments of followers around the world, and should not take place.


In response to media queries on the demolition of a Hindu deity statue in an area affected by the ongoing Thai-Cambodia border dispute, Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Hindu and Buddhist deities are deeply revered and worshipped by people across the region, as part of shared civilizational heritage.

1.  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for a meeting with his US counterpart to hammer out the most sensitive issues in a future peace deal with Russia, such as control of territory, following the latest round of U.S.-Ukrainian talks.

2.  Ukrainian troops have withdrawn from the embattled eastern town of Siversk, as Russia continues its slow and steady advance. The Ukrainian military said that it acted to preserve the lives of their soldiers and the combat capability of units, adding that Russian forces had a significant advantage in manpower.


3.  France condemned a U.S. visa ban on Thierry Breton, a former European Union commissioner who helped drive landmark online regulation that Washington believes censors free speech and unfairly targets U.S. tech giants. 


4.  Libya’s Army Chief of Staff, Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, and four others were killed in an air crash near Turkey’s capital city, Ankara. Libya’s Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah termed it a tragic accident.
