1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu urged everyone to work together to ensure water availability and security, highlighting that climate change is affecting the water cycle in today’s time. Conferring the 6th National Water Awards 2024 and the first Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Awards in New Delhi, the President said that the efficient use of water is essential for the country. 


2. PM Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu today. During his visit to Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Modi will visit the holy shrine and Mahasamadhi of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi and offer his obeisance. 1. India and Germany reaffirmed their commitment to enhance military-to-military cooperation with a focus on developing defence ties as a key pillar of the Strategic Partnership. Co-chairing a High Defence Committee meeting in New Delhi, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and German State Secretary Jens Plötner discussed a range of bilateral security and defence issues. 


2. The Army is considering the induction of women into Territorial Army (TA) battalions as a pilot project, with recruitment initially restricted to a few units. 1. Sagar Defence, an iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) winner, has secured the “Accelerating the Autonomous Robotics Revolution” challenge under the VISTA Track at Dubai Airshow 2025, earning a USD 5,000 prize for its autonomous systems concept. iDEX congratulated the team, noting that the achievement highlights India’s growing footprint in defence innovation.


2. The High Commission of India in Dhaka hosted “PharmaConnect” on Tuesday, a networking and knowledge-sharing event bringing together senior leaders from top Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies. The event preceded the upcoming participation of Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies at CPHI-PMEC India 2025, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical exhibitions.


3. The External Minister Dr S. Jaishankar has asserted that India has the right to defend its people against terrorism and will exercise it. Addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting in Moscow, Russia, Dr. Jaishankar said, the world must show zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.


4. Sri Lanka surpassed two million tourist arrivals for 2025, a key milestone marked by the arrival of two French travellers at Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday. With India remaining the leading source market, supported by steady inflows from the UK, Russia, Germany and China, tourism authorities are hopeful of ending above 2.3 million arrivals this year.


5. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) apprehended three Bangladeshi fishing boats along with 79 crew members for illegal fishing in Indian waters. During routine surveillance in the northern Bay of Bengal, the ICG detected that the fishing boats were operating well within Indian waters, in violation of the Maritime Zones of India Act.

As part of the International Gita Mahotsav 2025 celebration, the Embassy of India organised a seminar on “The Relevance of the Bhagavad Gita in Today’s World.” Professors from Nepal Sanskrit University and Tribhuvan University delivered insightful presentations on various dimensions of the Gita, highlighting its timeless wisdom and relevance in the modern era.

1. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has opposed the death penalty imposed on ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in absentia by the country's court.

The Amnesty International has condemned yesterday's decision of Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) to sentence former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, saying the ruling represents a grave miscarriage of justice. Amnesty International Secretary General Agnès Callamard said that the verdict fails to deliver accountability for the victims of last year’s violence and instead risks deepening Bangladesh’s human rights crisis.  


3. At least 12 Baloch civilians have reportedly gone missing after being taken by Pakistani security forces in Balochistan, according to human rights groups. 


4. US President Donald Trump signaled that he is open to discussions with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro while maintaining that the option of deploying American troops to Venezuela remains on the table. 


5. The UN Security Council has approved a resolution endorsing US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, with 13 members voting in favour and Russia and China abstaining. 


6. Philippine forces transported food, fuel and new personnel to a territorial outpost in a long-disputed shoal in the South China Sea, where Chinese government ships jammed communications during the hours-long supply mission.

🇮🇳 *FACTS ABOUT BHARAT* 🇮🇳

*Lakshmibai, the Rani of Jhansi* (pronunciation ; 19 November 1828 – 18 June 1858), was the queen of the princely state of Jhansi in North India currently present in Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh, India.


She was one of the leading figures of the Indians war against of 1857 and became a symbol of resistance to the British Raj for Indian nationalists.


 She was named Manikarnika Tambe and was nicknamed Manu. Her father was Moropant Tambe and her mother Bhagirathi Sapre (Bhagirathi Bai). Her parents came from Maharashtra. Her mother died when she was four years old. Her father was the Commander of the war of Kalyanpranth. Her father worked for Peshwa Baji Rao II of Bithoor district.


Manikarnika was married to the middle-aged Maharaja of Jhansi, Gangadhar Rao Newalkar, in May 1842 and was afterwards called Lakshmibai (or Laxmibai) in honour of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi and according to the Maharashtrian tradition of women being given a new name after marriage. In September 1851, she gave birth to a boy, later named Damodar Rao, who died four months after birth. The Maharaja adopted a child called Anand Rao, the son of Gangadhar Rao's cousin, who was renamed Damodar Rao, on the day before the Maharaja died. The adoption was in the presence of the British political officer who was given a letter from the Maharaja instructing that the child be treated with respect and that the government of Jhansi should be given to his widow for her lifetime.
