भारत-श्रीलंका संबंध 2,500 वर्ष से अधिक पुराने हैं और दोनों पक्षों ने बौद्धिक, सांस्कृतिक, धार्मिक और भाषाई संबंधों की विरासत पर निर्माण किया है।
दोनों देशों में बौद्धिक, सांस्कृतिक, धार्मिक और भाषाई संपर्क की विरासत है।
हाल के वर्षों में, संबंधों को सभी स्तरों पर घनिष्ठ संपर्कों द्वारा चिह्नित किया गया है। व्यापार और निवेश बढ़ा है और बुनियादी ढांचे के विकास, शिक्षा, संस्कृति और रक्षा के क्षेत्र में सहयोग हो रहा है।
हाल के वर्षों में, विकासात्मक सहायता परियोजनाओं के कार्यान्वयन में महत्वपूर्ण प्रगति ने दोनों देशों के बीच मित्रता के बंधन को और मजबूत किया है।
श्रीलंकाई बलों और लिट्टे के बीच लगभग तीन दशक से चल रहे सशस्त्र संघर्ष का अंत मई 2009 में हुआ। संघर्ष के दौरान, भारत ने आतंकवादी ताकतों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करने के श्रीलंकाई सरकार के अधिकार का समर्थन किया।
भारत की निरंतर स्थिति एक बातचीत के जरिए राजनीतिक समाधान के पक्ष में रही है, जो एक संयुक्त श्रीलंका के ढांचे के भीतर सभी समुदायों को स्वीकार्य है और लोकतंत्र, बहुलवाद और मानवाधिकारों के सम्मान के अनुरूप है।
आतंकवाद के खिलाफ समर्थन:
गृहयुद्ध के दौरान, भारत ने आतंकवादी ताकतों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करने के लिए श्रीलंका सरकार के अधिकार का समर्थन किया।
पुनर्वास के लिए सहायता:
भारतीय आवास परियोजना श्रीलंका को विकासात्मक सहायता की भारत सरकार की प्रमुख परियोजना है। इसकी प्रारंभिक प्रतिबद्धता गृहयुद्ध से प्रभावित लोगों के साथ-साथ बागान क्षेत्रों में एस्टेट श्रमिकों के लिए 50,000 घर बनाने की है।
कोविड -19 के दौरान सहायता:
भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने विदेशी भंडार को बढ़ावा देने और देश की वित्तीय स्थिरता सुनिश्चित करने के लिए श्रीलंका को 400 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर की मुद्रा विनिमय सुविधा का विस्तार करने के लिए एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए थे, जो कोविड से बुरी तरह प्रभावित था। 19 महामारी। हाल ही में, भारत ने श्रीलंका को भी कोविड-19 टीकों की आपूर्ति की है।

🔆India - Sri Lanka Relations
▪️Background
✅ India-Sri Lanka relationship is more than 2,500 years old and both sides have built upon a legacy of intellectual, cultural, religious and linguistic intercourse.
✅Both countries have a legacy of intellectual, cultural, religious and linguistic interaction.
✅In recent years, the relationship has been marked by close contacts at all levels. Trade and investment have grown and there is cooperation in the fields of infrastructure development, education, cultur
e and defence.
✅In recent years, significant progress in implementation of developmental assistance projects has further cemented the bonds of friendship between the two countries.
✅The nearly three-decade long armed conflict between the Sri Lankan forces and the LTTE came to an end in May 2009. During the course of the conflict, India supported the right of the Sri Lankan Government to act against terrorist forces.
✅India's consistent position has been in favour of a negotiated political settlement, which is acceptable to all communities within the framework of a united Sri Lanka and is consistent with democracy, pluralism and respect for human rights.
✅Support Against Terrorism:
During the course of the civil war, India supported the right of the Government of Sri Lanka to act against terrorist forces.
✅Support For Rehabilitation:
The Indian Housing Project is Government of India’s flagship project of developmental assistance to Sri Lanka. Its initial commitment is to build 50,000 houses for those affected by the civil war as well as for the estate workers in the plantation areas.
✅Assistance during Covid-19:
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had signed an agreement for extending a USD 400 million currency swap facility to Sri Lanka to boost the foreign reserves and ensure financial stability of the country, which was badly hit by Covid 19 pandemic. Recently, India has also supplied Covid-19 Vaccines to Sri Lanka.
✅Joint Exercises:
India and Sri Lanka conduct joint Military (Mitra Shakti) and Naval exercise (SLINEX).
✅ Participation in Groupings:
Sri Lanka is also a member of groupings like BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) and SAARC in which India plays a leading role.
