1. Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia arrived in Nagaland on a three-day visit.
2. Union Minister of Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi launches 100-Day Intensive Awareness Campaign for a Child Marriage Free Bharat.
3. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions over Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Delhi for next two to three days. According to IMD, dense fog conditions are likely to prevail over Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Odisha till Saturday.
4. Parliament passed the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025 with the Rajya Sabha approving and returning it to the Lok Sabha. The legislation is aimed to amend the Central Excise Act, 1944, specifically to raise excise duties and cess on tobacco products.
5. Former Mizoram governor and senior advocate Swaraj Kaushal died on Thursday, Delhi BJP said in a statement. He was 73. Kaushal, husband of late BJP veteran Sushma Swaraj, was the father of New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj.
6. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast severe cold wave in Punjab, Haryana, Eastern Rajasthan and Jharkhand for the next two days. Dense fog conditions are likely to prevail over Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and northeastern states till Saturday.

In December 1950, by signing the "India - Sikkim Peace Treaty", Sikkim became India's protectorate. India took control of Sikkim in April 1973 as its associate state as the people overthrew the monarchy.
On 15 May 1975 the President of India ratified a constitutional amendment that made Sikkim the 22nd state of India.
The origin theory of the name Sikkim is that it is a combination of two Limbu words: su, which means "new", and khyim, which means "palace" or "house".
