1. The Delhi Police on Thursday opposed the bail pleas sought by activists Sharjeel Imam, Umar Khalid and other accused in the 2020 Delhi riots case, and argued before the Supreme Court that intellectuals involved in terrorism are more dangerous to society than those operating on the ground.
Sharjeel Imam has been in jail since 2020 and faces several charges, including sedition and Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
2. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested four more prime accused involved in the Delhi Red Fort area terror incident.
3. The Supreme Court held that the Court cannot impose any timelines for decisions of the President and the Governor on granting assent to Bills under the Constitution.
