भारत ने ब्रिक्स की अध्यक्षता :India attained the presidency of BRICS.
✅ भारत ने ब्रिक्स की अध्यक्षता प्राप्त की।
भारत ने 25 फरवरी, 2021 को तीन-दिवसीय शेरपाओं की बैठक के उद्घाटन के साथ अपनी ब्रिक्स अध्यक्षता शुरू की है।
▪️ मुख्य बिंदु :
• विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता अनुराग श्रीवास्तव ने कहा कि सचिव ने इस बैठक की अध्यक्षता की और ब्रिक्स 2021 के लिए विषयों, प्राथमिकताओं और कैलेंडर पर प्रकाश डाला।
• इससे पहले विदेश मंत्री एस. जयशंकर ने सुषमा स्वराज भवन में ब्रिक्स के सचिवालय में भारत की ब्रिक्स 2021 वेबसाइट लॉन्च की थी।
• चीन के राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग भी बाद में ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन के लिए भारत आ सकते हैं।
• चीन ने भी बैठक की मेजबानी करने में भारत को अपना समर्थन प्रदान किया था और वह ब्रिक्स देशों के साथ काम करने के लिए तैयार है ताकि राजनीति, अर्थव्यवस्था और लोगों से लोगों के आदान-प्रदान के क्षेत्र में अपने सहयोग का विस्तार कर सके।
▪️ ब्रिक्स (BRICKS) :
इस समूह में ब्राजील, रूस, भारत, चीन और दक्षिण अफ्रीका शामिल हैं। ये सदस्य क्षेत्र में अपने महत्वपूर्ण प्रभाव के लिए जाने जाते हैं। 12वां ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन 17 नवंबर, 2020 को रूस द्वारा COVID-19 महामारी के बीच आयोजित किया गया था।
ब्रिक्स का संयुक्त क्षेत्र 39,746,220 वर्ग किलोमीटर है और इन देशों की कुल आबादी लगभग 3.21 बिलियन है। यह दुनिया की भूमि की सतह का लगभग 26% और विश्व की आबादी का 41% हिस्सा है। ब्रिक्स के सभी सदस्य G20 के सदस्य भी हैं।

माना जाता है कि “ब्रिक” शब्द 2001 में जिम ओ’नील द्वारा गढ़ा गया था, जो गोल्डमैन सैक्स एसेट मैनेजमेंट के तत्कालीन अध्यक्ष थे। लेकिन यह शब्द वास्तव में रूपा पुरुषोत्तमन द्वारा गढ़ा गया था। इस समूह की पहली बैठक जून 2009 में येकातेरिनबर्ग में हुई थी।

India has commenced its BRICS chairmanship with the inauguration of a three-day Sherpa meeting on 25 February 2021.
▪️ Key Points:
• Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Anurag Shrivastava said that the Secretary chaired the meeting and highlighted the themes, priorities and calendars for BRICS 2021.
• Earlier, Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar launched India's BRICS 2021 website at the BRICS Secretariat at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan.
• Chinese President Xi Jinping may also visit India later for the BRICS summit.
• China also extended its support to India in hosting the meeting and is ready to work with BRICS countries to expand their cooperation in the field of politics, economy and people-to-people exchanges.
▪️ BRICS (BRICKS):
The group includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. These members are known for their significant influence in the region. The 12th BRICS Summit was organized by Russia on November 17, 2020 amidst the COVID-19 epidemic.
BRICS has a combined area of 39,746,220 square kilometers and a total population of these countries is approximately 3.21 billion. It constitutes about 26% of the world's land surface and 41% of the world's population. All BRICS members are also members of the G20.
▪️ Background:
The term "brick" is believed to have been coined in 2001 by Jim O'Neill, the then chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. But the term was actually coined by Rupa Purushothaman. The first meeting of the group was held in Yekaterinburg in June 2009.
