1.  Union Government appeals to all party leaders to allow Parliament to function smoothly. Decides to take up debate on Election Reforms on 9th of this month after all-party meeting.

2.  Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai has said, Government has decided to conduct Census in 2027.

3.  Karnataka has launched the upgraded e-Swathu 2.0 platform, aimed at transforming property management in gram panchayats and significantly increasing government revenue. The initiative, inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru, is projected to regularise 95 lakh rural properties and generate up to Rs 2,000 crore.

4.  The 26th Hornbill Festival began on 1st December at the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama, Kohima, coinciding with Nagaland’s Statehood Day. This ten-day festival brings together all major Naga tribes to celebrate their rich traditions, music, dance, crafts, and local food. Over the years, the Hornbill Festival has become one of India’s most famous cultural events.

5.  Sanchar Saathi mandatory on all phones: Govt says it helps block stolen mobiles and detect fraud, but critics warn it may enable surveillance and privacy risks.

6.  Vivek Chaturvedi, a veteran 1990-batch IRS officer, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

7.  Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) has earned the title of India’s first water-positive airport among facilities handling more than 40 million passengers annually. 

8.  The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recorded two hundred 31 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions in November, marking an 8.47 percent increase during the same period last year. The Ministry of Electronics and IT highlighted that this is indicative of the growing usage of Aadhaar, as well as the growth of the digital economy in the country.

9.  Lok Sabha will take up a debate on the 150th anniversary of National Song 'Vande Mataram'  electoral reforms, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said.

1.  The CBI agency has arrested Shafat Ahmad Shangloo, a resident Srinagar, who is accused of assisting Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yasin Malik during the 1989 kidnapping of Dr Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

2.  The Union government’s directive requiring every smartphone manufacturer — from Apple to Samsung and Xiaomi — to pre-install the Sanchar Saathi cybersecurity app has ignited a sharp political and industry pushback. While the Centre frames it as a crucial step to fight cyber fraud and recover stolen phones, critics argue it raises constitutional, privacy and competition questions, especially because the app cannot be removed by users.

3.  Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia clarified that the Sanchar Saathi is not a surveillance app but enables citizens to secure themselves through transparent and easy-to-use tools.

1.  Emo POORSTACEY, known for his genre-blending style and rising influence in alternative music, has died at the age of 26. Authorities responded to an incident at a hotel in Boca Raton on 29 November, where the artist was found and later pronounced dead in hospital. The cause of death has not yet been made public.

2.  British playwright and Oscar-winning screenwriter Tom Stoppard has passed away at the age of 88. His talent agency, United Agents, announced that he died peacefully at his home in Dorset, surrounded by family. Stoppard was celebrated for combining sharp intellect with humor in his plays and screenwriting.

1.  India is preparing to commission its third indigenously built nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, INS Aridhaman, marking a major expansion of the nation’s sea-based nuclear deterrent. The vessel has entered its final phase of trials, with the Navy confirming that induction will take place soon.

2.  Praveen Kumar, the current Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), has now taken additional charge as the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF). He stepped into this role on Sunday after the retirement of former BSF chief Daljit Singh Chawdhary.

3.  Defence Research and Development Organisation on Tuesday successfully carried out a high-speed rocket-sled test of a fighter aircraft escape system at the Rail Track Rocket Sled facility of the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory in Chandigarh. 

4.  Russia's lower house of parliament, State Duma, on Tuesday ratified a key military pact with India ahead of President Vladimir Putin's state visit to New Delhi on December 4-5.

5.  India has signed up to procure additional satellite-linked Heron MK II drones under emergency provisions, aiming to significantly enhance its defence capabilities following their effective use during Operation Sindoor. 

6.  India's Navy Chief, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, has announced that the third indigenous nuclear-powered submarine, INS Aridaman, stands poised for imminent commissioning following the completion of its final sea trials.

1.  Gateway cargo operations at the Vizhinjam International Container Transhipment Terminal are now expected to commence by January 2026, following a delay from the earlier target of November. 

2.  Kochi will host the 7th India International Seaweed Expo & Summit on January 29–30, 2026, highlighting innovations, global participation and India’s blue economy push. 

3.  The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) India honoured the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) for winning the 2025 United Nations Population Award in the Institutional Category. The award recognises IUSSP’s outstanding work in population research and support for evidence-based policymaking worldwide.

4.  The National Industries Research and Development Council (NIRDC) has launched InDApp, a new digital platform designed to help Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India grow faster and access business opportunities more easily. The platform was officially unveiled by B. L. Verma, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

5.  India is undergoing a significant demographic transition that is set to reshape its population future. With the total fertility rate (TFR) dropping to 1.9 from 3.5 in 2000, experts now forecast that the country’s population will stabilise between 1.8 and 1.9 billion by the year 2080. 

6.  India has once again secured a seat on the UNESCO Executive Board for the 2025–2029 term, marking a reaffirmation of its growing global leadership in promoting education, culture, science, and communication through multilateral cooperation.
