हाल ही में, तटरक्षक बल ने कानून लागू किए हैं और ओडिशा में ओलिव रिडले कछुओं (Olive Ridley Turtles) की रक्षा के लिए ऑपरेशन ओलिविया (Operation Olivia) शुरू किया है।

♨️ ऑपरेशन ओलिविया क्या है?

ऑपरेशन ओलिविया (Operation Olivia) भारतीय तटरक्षक बल (ICG) द्वारा पहली बार 1980 के दशक की शुरुआत में शुरू किया गया था। यह ऑपरेशन हर साल ओलिव रिडले कछुओं की रक्षा करने में मदद करता है जब वे नवंबर से दिसंबर के महीनों में प्रजनन के लिए ओडिशा तट पर घोंसला बनाना शुरू करते हैं। इसके तहत तटरक्षक बल की संपत्ति जैसे फास्ट पेट्रोल वेसल, इंटरसेप्टर क्राफ्ट, एयर कुशन वेसल और डोर्नियर एयरक्राफ्ट के जरिए नवंबर से मई तक चौबीसों घंटे निगरानी की जाती है।

⚡️ वर्तमान परिदृश्य :

नवंबर 2020 से मई 2021 के बीच, तटरक्षक बल ने 225 जहाज दिवस और 388 विमान घंटे समर्पित किए हैं। उन्होंने 3.49 लाख कछुओं की रक्षा की है।

🐢 ओलिव रिडले (Olive Ridley) :

ओलिव रिडले कछुओं को International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List के तहत असुरक्षित (vulnerable) के रूप में सूचीबद्ध किया गया है। भारत में पाए जाने वाले समुद्री कछुओं को भारतीय वन्यजीव संरक्षण अधिनियम, 1972 की अनुसूची I में शामिल किया गया है। वे Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) of Wild Fauna and Flora के परिशिष्ट I में भी सूचीबद्ध हैं। उनके सामूहिक घोंसले को अरिबाडा (Arribada) कहा जाता है। गहिरमाथा, अस्टारंगा तट, देवी नदी का मुहाना और रुशिकुल्या भारत में ओडिशा तट से 4 अरिबाडा स्थल हैं।

What is Operation Olivia? 🤔

Recently, Coast Guard has enforced laws and launched Operation Olivia to protect Olive Ridley Turtles in Odisha.

️ What is Operation Olivia?

Operation Olivia was first launched by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in the early 1980s. This operation helps protect the Olive Ridley turtles every year when they start nesting on the Odisha coast for breeding in the months of November to December. Under this, Coast Guard assets such as Fast Patrol Vessels, Interceptor Crafts, Air Cushion Vessels and Dornier Aircraft are monitored round the clock from November to May.

Current Scenario:

Between November 2020 and May 2021, the Coast Guard has dedicated 225 ship days and 388 aircraft hours. He has protected 3.49 lakh turtles.

Olive Ridley :

Olive Ridley tortoises are listed as vulnerable under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. Sea turtles found in India are included in Schedule I of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. They are also listed in Appendix I of the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) of Wild Fauna and Flora. Their collective nest is called Arribada. Gahirmatha, Astaranga Coast, Devi River estuary and Rushikulya are the 4 Arribada sites off the Odisha coast in India.
