"संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति सैनिकों का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस (International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers)" प्रतिवर्ष 29 मई को मनाया जाता है। यह दिन उन सभी पुरुषों और महिलाओं को श्रद्धांजलि देने के लिए मनाया जाता है, जिन्होंने अपने उच्च स्तर के व्यावसायिकता, समर्पण और साहस के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति अभियानों में सेवा जारी रखी और उन लोगों की स्मृति का सम्मान करने के लिए जिन्होंने शांति के लिए अपनी जान गंवाई।

इस दिन को संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा 11 दिसंबर, 2002 को नामित किया गया था, और पहली बार 2003 में मनाया गया था।

संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति सैनिकों का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस 3,900 से अधिक शांति सैनिकों को सम्मानित करने के लिए मनाया जाता है जिन्होंने संयुक्त राष्ट्र के तहत अपनी जान गंवाई है। इस वर्ष उनकी चुनौतियाँ बढ़ गई हैं क्योंकि वे न केवल लोगों की रक्षा कर रहे हैं बल्कि COVID-19 महामारी से भी जूझ रहे हैं।

♻️ वर्तमान परिदृश्य :

1 मिलियन से अधिक पुरुष और महिलाएं संयुक्त राष्ट्र के 72 शांति अभियानों में सेवारत हैं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति सेना ने लगभग 13 अभियानों में 95,000 से अधिक पुलिस, सैन्य और नागरिक कर्मियों को तैनात किया है।

🤔 29 मई ही क्यों?

पहला संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति मिशन 29 मई, 1948 को स्थापित किया गया था।इस  शांति रक्षा मिशन की स्थापना युद्धविराम समझौते की निगरानी के लिए की गई थी जिस पर इजरायल और अरब के बीच हस्ताक्षर किए गए थे।

🤝 युद्धविराम समझौता (Armistice Agreement) :

युद्धविराम समझौता एक ऐसा समझौता है जो लड़ाई को रोकने के लिए हस्ताक्षरित किया जाता है। युद्धविराम दिवस (Armistice Day) 11 नवंबर को मनाया जाता है। यह प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के सहयोगियों और जर्मन साम्राज्य के बीच संधियों पर हस्ताक्षर करने के लिए है।

Why only on 29th May?
