जैव विविधता के संरक्षण और सतत उपयोग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए हर साल 22 मई को दुनिया भर में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय जैव विविधता दिवस (International Biodiversity Day) के रूप में मनाया जाता है।

कुछ मानवीय गतिविधियों के कारण जैविक विविधता में उल्लेखनीय कमी के मुद्दे के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र हर साल 22 मई को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय जैव विविधता दिवस (International Day for Biological Diversity) मनाता है। जैविक विविधता में पौधों, जानवरों और सूक्ष्मजीवों की एक विस्तृत विविधता शामिल है, जिसमें प्रत्येक प्रजाति के भीतर आनुवंशिक अंतर शामिल हैं, उदाहरण के लिए, फसलों की किस्मों और पशुओं की नस्लों के बीच।

• यह दिन 22 मई, 1992 को नैरोबी फाइनल एक्ट (Nairobi Final Act) द्वारा Agreed Text of the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) को अपनाने का स्मरण करवाता है।

• UNGA प्रस्ताव के अपनाने से पहले, 29 दिसंबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय जैव विविधता दिवस के रूप में नामित किया गया था।

The United Nations celebrates International Day for Biological Diversity on 22 May every year to raise awareness about the issue of significant reduction in biological diversity due to some human activities. Biological diversity includes a wide variety of plants, animals, and microorganisms, including genetic differences within each species, for example, between varieties of crops and breeds of animals.

This year's 2021 theme is "We are part of the solution".
